Lady Tigers win first state championship in school history

The Oktaha Lady Tigers and Pocola Lady Indians was very familar with each other coming into this game being the fourth time they’ve met this season, The previous three meetings came in the Checotah Tournament, Lady Indians beating them twice 9-8 and 11-0 while the Lady Tigers got them once 7-3 and now the two meet for a fourth time on the biggest stage. The Lady Indians would get it started in the first inning with back to back home runs from Allyssa Parker and Kail Chitwood. Second inning would be relatively quiet. Top of third the Lady Tigers would get on the board with an RBI single from Payton Stewart to score Ryleigh Bacon and an RBI single from Ava Scott to score Cambree McCoy, Two more RBI singles one from Peyton Bryan and another from Brynn Surmont would take the lead. Top of the fourth would start out with Allyssa Patker and Kail Chitwood intentionally walked and two runs scored on sacrifice flys to tie the game. Top of fourth the Lady Tigers took the lead on a sacrifice fly, Bottom of fourth the Lady Indians would retake the lead on a three run home run from Kylee Smith and once again Parker and Chitwood would be walked. Top of fifth the Lady Tigers would take the lead on a big rally with RBI singles from Brynn Surmont, Mackenzie Eaves, Kirsten Berry, Bryanna Rodden and two RBI doubles from Ryleigh Bacon and Cambree McCoy. Bottom of sixth Kylee Smith would grab her second home run on the day this one a solo homer while Parker and Chitwood would be walked again. Bottom of seventh last chance for the Lady Indians and Dauslyn Brown would come in as a pinch hitter and get an RBI single to score Lety Parga to bring the deficit back to one but two consecutive fly outs would bring the inning to a close and the Lady Tigers would go on to win 11-10 and win their first title in school history.
