EDMOND — Powered by a stellar first half and a commanding fourth-quarter finish, Rejoice Christian clinched its second state title and first back-to-back in school history with a 34–13 victory over Tonkawa in the Class A-I state championship Thursday night at Chad Richison Stadium.
The Eagles set the tone early when Alex Yorman returned the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown, though the extra point was missed. Rejoice Christian quickly added another touchdown when Kamieon Compton-Nero connected with Zizi Okwufulueze for a 28-yard score, stretching the lead to 13–0 in the first quarter.
In the second, Noah Goodwin punched it in for a touchdown, extending the lead to 20–0. Tonkawa answered in the third, with Lucas Keith running it in for a score, though their extra point attempt failed, making it 20–6.
Rejoice Christian answered again in the fourth quarter. Compton-Nero connected with Okwufulueze once more for a touchdown to push the lead to 27–13. Finally, Goodwin capped the scoring with a rushing touchdown, and the Eagles sealed the deal at 34–13.
