EDMOND — Behind four touchdown accounts from Cooper McCord and a final-play interception by Brett Pursley, Adair outlasted Vian 34–29 to win the Class 2A-II state championship Friday afternoon at Chad Richison Stadium.
Adair came out in full control early, striking first when McCord found Cole Moody downfield for a touchdown. After Vian answered with a Draighton Fletcher burst to the house, the Warriors leaned on McCord at the goal line and kept stacking points, stretching the cushion to 26–6 before the Wolverines finally flipped the momentum late in the second quarter.
That flip turned into a full-on surge after halftime. Cash Trammell hit Masyn Wright for a score, then Wright powered in on a direct snap to make it 26–22 at the break, and Vian kept rolling with another Wright touchdown run in the third to grab its first lead of the day, 29–26.
But Adair had one last punch. Facing a huge fourth down, McCord delivered again — this time to Zack Wilson in the end zone — and the Warriors tacked on the two-point conversion to jump back in front 34–29. Vian got one final shot, but Trammell’s last heave was picked off by Pursley as Adair slammed the door and lifted the trophy.
