The Big One: Your Guide To The Class B-I and 3A State Championship

Two teams remain we have reached the state championship

Dewar vs Laverne

Thursday at 1:00pm at Chad Richison Stadium

Last Championship Appearance: Dewar (2020) Laverne (2022)

Head to Head: 2-0 Dewar leads all time (Last matchup Dewar 38 Laverne 20. 2020 Class B State Championship)

DEWAR head coach Josh Been

Laverne is an excellent football team with a very good QB and an absolute all American type of player at Tailback.  They are very well coached and are sound and disciplined in every facet of the game.  We need to bottle Felix Teal up and limit his big plays which he is gonna make some plays against anyone. What’s different about this year from last year, our leadership and the experience of our quarterback. We obviously had a setback early with Weleetka who is also a very good team, but ultimately we feel that was an eye opener, got our attention, time to go to work and quit being complacent type of game.  I think this is a special team and we are peaking at the right time.  Should be a battle of two fairly similar teams.

Sulphur vs Lincoln Christian

Thursday at 7:00pm at Chad Richison Stadium

Last Championship Appearance: Sulphur (2018) Lincoln Christian (Third consecutive appearance since 2022)

Head to Head: 4-0 Lincoln Christian leads all time (Last matchup Lincoln Christian 45 Sulphur 7 2023 Class 3A Quarterfinals)

LINCOLN CHRISTIAN head coach Jerry Ricke

I think that our team has really grown throughout the season. We lost a lot of key pieces from last year’s team and have a relatively young team this year. We have had a few growing pains on the year, but overall I’m really proud of what this team has accomplished. We are excited to be playing in the State Championship game against a great Sulphur team.
