It is that time of season and we have finally reached the State Tournament and congratulations to all the teams that have made it back to Hall of Fame Stadium. Follow along as I preview the State Tournament matchups and hear from the coaches as they give their thoughts.

It’s been a year full of injuries. Lost 2 starters to knee injuries but best player came back for districts. She’s played 5 games now and homered nearly every game. We’re glad to be back and excited to get some help in the lineup. Fifth straight year just shows how these girls like to compete and try to be the best at everything they do said Lookeba-Sickles coach Lance Scales.

We have four seniors who have done a remarkable job of leading our young club this season. The remaining eleven girls on our roster are freshmen and sophomores. As a whole, they have really matured on the field. They have all worked extremely hard and their efforts are paying off. We are looking forward to competing on the big stage this week. It’s good to be back! said Asher coach Tari Dubler.
#3 Leedey vs #6 Chattanooga

Leedey’s road to state
Leedey’s playoffs began with wins over Beaver 15-0 and 18-2 in districts, Defeated Dover 15-2 and Arnett 19-7 to advance to the state tournament.
We have won all of our playoff games by 10+ runs. We had high expectations coming into this season. We are led by three seniors. We just lost one starter from a state runner-up team last year. We are hitting about 50 points better than we were last spring. We fully expected to be in this position and are hoping to improve on our finish last year said Leedey coach Eric Castle.
Chattanooga’s road to state
Chattanooga’s playoffs began with wins over Duke 10-2 and 14-1 in districts, Fell to Shidler 2-1 but bounced back against Ryan 8-0 and a rematch against Shidler 4-1 to advance to the state tournament.
We beat Duke twice in the district tournament. Then lost Shidler 2-1 in first round of regionals, but came back to beat Ryan 8-0 and then beat Shidler 5-1. It was our goal all season long to get to OKC. Lot of anticipation for this moment and excited to be there!! said Chattanooga coach Billy Karr.
#2 Whitesboro vs #7 Caney

Whiteboro’s playoffs began with wins over Saskawa 12-0 and 21-0 in districts, Fell to Tupelo 10-5 but bounced back with wins over McCurtain 11-3 and 8-0 to advance to the state tournament
This is my first season at Whitesboro and coming off of a state championship last Slowpitch season and losing 6 seniors I knew there would be some work to do. We’ve had a season not many expected as far as success goes. We’ve went 24-11 this season and have played a pretty tough schedule. The goal all season was to get to the state tournament and once we got there to win it. Over spring break we had a serious reality check losing 4 in a row. We responded really well only losing 7 games to finish out the regular season finishing 24-11. It was a good reality check for the girls, we realized we were going to have to start making adjustments and stay within ourselves as far as what kind of hitter we are. We approached playoffs expecting to go to the state tournament but also taking it one game at a time playing every game as if it was the state finals. Did not take care of business in the Tupelo game, but responded well after and earned a state tournament berth. Now the goal is to go play for each other and go win a state championship said Whitesboro coach Cash Balentine.
Class A
#1 Binger-Oney vs #7 Moss
11:30am at Integris Field
Last Appearance: Binger-Oney (16th consecutive since 2008) Moss (First since 2011)
Binger-Oney’s road to state
Binger-Oney’s playoffs began with wins over Geary 13-0 and 12-0 in districts, Defeated Covington-Douglas 12-3 and Hammon 15-5 to advance to the state tournament.
The season has been a good one. Like most slow pitch seasons a lot of ups and downs. We have a large number of girls on the unofficial roster. 26 total. Team is led by a fantastic group of seniors who are an example of how the game should be played as well as demonstrating how to be a good teammate. We came off of a successful fast pitch season making the state tournament despite an extremely tough regional at sterling so our expectations for this spring have been high since the beginning. I feel like we have played a tough schedule which has helped prepare us for a push towards the championship on Wednesday. This years bracket is full of teams that have a rich program history so we know the road will be tough. We hope to be at our best and see if that’s good enough said Binger-Oney coach Jason Wilson.
Moss road to state
Moss began their playoffs with wins over Cameron 24-1 and Coyle 11-1 and 10-0 in districts, Fell to Red Oak 16-0 but defeated Soper twice 15-1 and 11-3 to advance to the state tournament.
We are definitely excited about competing in this years state tournament and are proud of the fact that we’re the first slow pitch team since 2011 to make it. We’ve gotten close the last two seasons but came up a game short both years so that’s been frustrating. This is my 5th season at Moss and we’ve been able to make it in fast pitch three times in my tenure here but unable to break through in slow pitch. We have an extremely difficult task considering we’re playing the number #1 team in Binger-Oney. They don’t seem to have any weakness, so we’ll have to play exceptional to win. I strengthened up our schedule this season and we held our own against some very tough competition. I believe that helped us for the playoffs and prepared us for this moment. I’m proud of all my girls but here’s some of our team leaders. Shay Stambaugh, Sr. 17 HR, 97 RBI,69 Runs. Harlee Nolen, Jr. 4HR, 55 RBI, 83 Runs. Elexis Stafford, Soph. 6 HR, 77 RBI,64 Runs. Gracelyn Wulf, Jr. 3HR, 71 RBI, 62 Runs. said Moss coach Mark Qualls
#5 Stuart vs #6 Hammon
11:30am at Field Three
Last Appearance: Stuart (Seventh straight since 2018) Hammon (Second consecutive)
Stuart’s road to state
Stuart’s playoffs began with wins over Earlsboro 12-0 and 15-3 in districts, Defeated Roff 11-2 and Kiowa 16-12 to advance to the state tournament.
Road to state tournament: Getting to the state tournament isn’t always easy. I felt like kiowa was a top 4 team in our tough class and it was a tough regional with roff in it also. When regionals came out I knew we had to play good to have a chance to get back to state and we did. We have played tough schedule this spring. We have played 25 ranked teams out of 37 games. I felt like that prepared us for the playoffs and these girls are gritty and refuse to be outworked!
Anticipation leading up to state: I feel like the girls really step up in playoffs. I was a little bit worried three weeks ago and then they flipped the switch and it has been great ever since. They’re ready for the state tournament and excited!
Reaction advancing to state for 7th consecutive time: Coach chapman has instilled tradition and hard work in the program while he was coaching. I just continued that tradition. Our program believes they should make the state tournament every year. That is our first team goal we write on the board every season. Advancing to that many state tournaments in a row should say something about your program. Our school and community love softball here at Stuart! said Stuart coach Jeff Parnell.
Hammon’s road to state
Hammon’s playoffs began with wins over Buffalo 19-2 and 20-8 in districts, Defeated Kremlin-Hillsdale 3-1, Fell to Binger-Oney 15-5 but defeated Kremlin-Hillsdale again 11-1 to advance to the state tournament.
We jumped right into Slow Pitch a couple days after the state basketball tournament. We have played a difficult schedule and have been able to stay healthy this season , unlike Fast Pitch. We only have 11 girls on the team but they all have worked really hard and improved as the season has progressed. We were sent to Binger-Oney for a tough regional and finished runner up to Number 1 Binger-Oney. We defeated a good Kremlin team twice. We are excited for the challenge that is in front of us. I am sad that it is over on Wednesday win or lose. I have 2 daughters on the team and my youngest daughter is the manager and my wife keeps the book. I have enjoyed getting to spend more time with my family. This season has been one of my favorites in 24 years of coaching!! said Hammon coach Jeremy Mcintosh.
#4 Turner vs #3 Kiowa
11:30am at Integris Field
Last Appearance: Turner (Third straight since 2022) Kiowa (Sixth straight since 2018)
Turner’s road to state
Turner’s playoffs began with 6-0 and 20-1 wins over Thackerville in districts, Defeated Grandfield 15-2 and Navajo 5-4 to advance to the state tournament.
This year has been a fun year. These girls have worked really hard to get back to the state tournament. We finished state runner up in fastpitch so they were determined to get back to the tournament. I’m not sure honestly if people expected us to be 29-3, you could tell that by the way some of the coaches in our class ranked us throughout the year. The state tournament isn’t anything new to these girls. They have made it several times in softball and also made it in basketball this year. They know what to expect and hopefully it will all come together. They are excited and ready to go said Turner coach EJ Forsythe.
Kiowa’s road to state
Kiowa’s playoffs began with wins over Oilton 10-0 and Wilson Henryetta 15-3 and 7-2 in districts, Defeated Wapanucka 13-1, Fell to Stuart 16-12 but bounced back against Roff 7-2 to advance to the state tournament.
We played a brutal schedule playing 18 games vs state tourney competition. Survived and advanced from all our lumps. For us, the real season begins when the playoffs begin. We look forward to this time of the year every year. Excited to be part of this year’s tournament, 7 other great teams in our field. We are looking forward to Wednesday!!! said Kiowa coach Keith Quaid
#2 Red Oak vs #8 Navajo
11:30am at Field Two
Last Appearance: Red Oak (Second consecutive) Navajo (First since 2022)
Red Oak’s road to state
Red Oak’s playoffs began with wins over Mason 16-1 and 18-0 in districts, Defeated Smithville 13-0 and Moss 16-0 to advance to the state tournament.
Played a tough schedule preparing us , good group of young ladies . We never take it for granted very exciting said Red Oak coach Casey Butcher.
Navajo’s road to state
Navajo’s playoffs began with wins over Tipton 19-0 and 17-0 in districts, Fell to Turner 5-4 but defeated Ft. Cobb-Broxton twice 12-3 and 5-1 to advance to the state tournament.
Our road to the state tournament was not easy. With a returning starter out with back surgery, we tried a number of different lineups and positions to see what worked best. We had a tough regional draw with several strong teams. Leading up to the state tournament, we are super focused and hungry. We were disappointed in the way we played at regionals and are grateful we get a chance to hopefully redeem ourselves. The state tournament is such a fun atmosphere and our fans ALWAYS show up!! The reaction to punching that ticket is always surreal and we never take it for granted. Though we missed the state tournament in slow pitch in 2023, we did get the opportunity to play at the state tournament this fall in fast pitch. We are hopeful that the experience will help us succeed this trip! said Navajo coach Kriston Cusher.
Class 2A
#1 Shattuck vs #6 Sterling
8:30am at Integris Field
Last Appearance: Shattuck (Second consecutive) Sterling (Second consecutive)
Shattuck’s road to state
Shattuck’s playoffs began with wins over Turpin 25-0 and 13-2 in districts, Defeated Seiling 18-3 and Canute 16-15 to advance to the state tournament.
We have had a lot of younger girls step up this year that replaced 6 seniors from last years team. The girls have worked hard all year and were extremely excited winning the regional tournament. Leading up to the state tournament we are trying to get in quality practice, enjoying the experience, but hopefully preparing ourselves to play our best softball on Wednesday said Shattuck coach Tyson Bullard.
Sterling’s road to state
Sterling’s playoffs began with wins over Verden 12-2 and 14-4 in districts, Fell to Waukomis 9-4 but bounced back twice against Central High 13-1 and 7-3 to advance to the state tournament.
Third year out of the last four to be in state tournament. Have 12 girls out with 7 being seniors , focus may have been more on enjoying the process than the wins and losses. We have played a lot on the road so hopefully that will help this week ,also our girls have played at hall of fame quite a bit so maybe we will feel less pressure. I am retiring from coaching this year so a good way to go out no matter the results said Sterling coach Van Monroe
#3 Drummond vs #13 Rock Creek
8:30am at Field Two
Last Appearance: Drummond (First appearance since 2007) Rock Creek (First appearance since 2017)
Drummond’s road to state
Drummond’s playoffs began with wins over Okeene 14-5 and 12-0 in districts, Defeated Stonewall 14-4, Fell to Cyril 19-1, Bounced back against Cheyenne-Reydon 14-8 to advance to the state tournament.
My first introductory meeting last fall with the kids and the parents was a good indication. Had a really nice bunch of people just wanting to have a chance to succeed. I could tell early in our first week, after 5 days of long practices in the heat that this group was extremely coachable. Had a good season without two of our very important starters, (injured), who are now on the slow pitch team. Started really well and had some big wins over some good teams. We’re in every game. Probably when we went down to Binger and played Coach Wilson’s bunch was a sign that we had a good chance to get there. They can test anybody. Great program. The school and community have been very supportive just like they are for all the activities in Drummond. Everyone is excited to get down there and compete said Drummond coach Cody Hooper.
Rock Creek’s road to state
Rock Creek’s playoffs began with wins over Keota 9-1 and Quinton 6-3 and 4-1 in districts, Defeated Arapaho-Butler 7-6 and Depew 15-14 in regionals to advance to the state tournament.
We have a great group of young ladies that have worked hard all season. We have been struggling with enough players to field a team the last few seasons, Going into the playoffs we felt like we were prepared because we play a tough schedule throughout the season. We had to cancel our slow pitch season last year because of not having enough to play. I feel what the girls have accomplished this year is pretty remarkable, Going from not having enough to play to making state in one year. We have a young team, Two seniors, Three juniors, One sophomore and Five freshman. Once they began to buy into what Coach Ward and I were teaching them, They began to gel. We told them at the start of the season we’ve had the talent to make state, But they would have to work hard and play together as a team. We have a pretty tough schedule, Which I think helped us. The girls never gave up, I am very very proud and excited for our girls, fans, and community to get back to state said Rock Creek coach Wade Johnson.
#5 Cyril vs #2 Arapaho-Butler
8:30am at OG&E Field
Last Appearance: Cyril (Third straight since 2022) Arapaho-Butler (First since 2018)
Cyril’s road to state
Cyril’s playoffs began with wins over Ninnekah 19-0 and 14-1 in districts, Defeated Cheyenne-Reydon 13-1 and Drummond 19-1 to advance to the state tournament
For district we were paired with Ninnekah. I didn’t expect any issues. Our bats came alive and we got 2 big wins against them. For Regionals, I felt like we drew a pretty tough one. I felt like Cheyenne was under ranked. It was a tough first round draw. We beat Cheyenne 13-1, then had #3 Drummond. We were expecting a dogfight, but we came out on fire and kept the momentum going without a weak spot in our lineup. We won 19-1. We drew Arapaho for our first game in state. They were ranked #2 and got upset in their regional. I feel like we are the underdog. We are very excited to make the state tournament – it never gets old, no matter how many times we’ve been. We don’t take it for granted, knowing there are 96 other teams that would love to have our spot said Cyril coach Tim Persinger.
Arapaho-Butler’s road to the state tournament
Arapaho-Butler’s playoffs began with wins over Fargo-Gage/Ft. Supply 16-0 and 12-0 in districts, Fell to Rock Creek 7-6 but bounced back with wins over Depew 8-7 and Woodland 13-1 to advance to the state tournament.
Although we graduated two all staters off of last year’s team I really felt we had a chance to be better this year through improvement in our returning players and the addition of some really good freshmen. We have been much more consistent this year and much improved in all offensive categories. We were #2 in every ranking this season and still drew what I felt was the toughest region in 2A consisting of #2, 7, 9, & 13 and it lived up to it and then some. After falling in the last inning of the go game the previous two years I think everybody was ready to get that monkey off of our back. We had to take the tougher path after dropping or first game. We were down to our last out and even last strike before hitting a two run walk off home run in the go game so it was obviously very emotional but at the same time there was a big sense of relief to get that monkey off of our back and get back to the slow pitch state tournament said Arapaho-Butler coach Luke Thompson.
#8 Canute vs #4 Waukomis
8:30am at Field Three
Last Appearance: Canute (Second consecutive) Waukomis (First since 2003)
Canute’s road to state
Canute’s playoffs began with wins over Pond Creek-Hunter 12-3 and Oklahoma Bible Academy 21-7 and 10-2, Fell to Shattuck 16-15 but defeated Fletcher twice 16-1 and 14-1 to advance to the state tournament
Our road to the state tournament has been tough this season. Our schedule was loaded with many ranked teams all season long. Some big wins and some tough losses. Both have prepared us for the playoff run. We are excited for the opportunity to test our self against the best in Class 2A. We’re excited to be back at hall of fame with a chance to bring home a championship this season said Canute coach JW Gillett.
Waukomis road to state
Waukomis began playoffs with wins over Garber 40-9 and 12-6 in districts, Defeated Crowder 12-3 and Sterling 9-4 to advance to the state tournament.
We’ve tried to improve our schedule and play tougher competition in hopes it would challenge our team and make us better! Going into State Tournament, 20 out of our 39 games were against teams ranked in their Class at the time we played them. Went 14-6 in those games.
•Waukomis Spring Swing Champions
•Enid Pacer Tourn. Champions
•Fletcher Spring Swing Runner-Up
•District Champions
•Regional Champions
We’ve been treating each day like we usually would, but the girls are excited about next week! The community, school and administration has been awesome! Showing us support from the very beginning! First trip since 2003 has been surreal, and we hope it’s not the last! said Waukomis coach Nathan Pearson.
Class 3A
#1 Caddo vs #9 Apache
10:00am at Integris Field
Last Appearance: Caddo (Seventh straight since 2017) Apache (Third straight since 2022)
Caddo’s road to state
Caddo’s playoffs began with wins over Clayton/Moyers 12-0 and Konawa 22-0 and 18-0 in districts, Defeated Stratford 14-3 and Rattan 8-2 to advance to the state tournament
We really pride ourselves in the strength of our schedule, while early on we slipped up and lost a few games against some very good opponents. After playing in the Beast of the East and running into Washington in the finals and getting beat in two close games, we didn’t waiver much but kept working with a quick turnaround coming being the Kiowa Tournament, which is a tournament loaded with State Tournament Teams. We ended up runner up to Dale while they took 2 of 3 from us. For our final regular season tournament of the year we went to yet another loaded tournament at Caney where we won that one and was really playing good at that time. I believe with the schedule we played we should be ready to compete and will definitely need to be ready for this years Class 3A State Tournament. After winning our Regional, I asked our girls if they realized they were going to the State Tournament again and our Junior catcher Anna Adair stated that “ when we were freshman, you told us that we were expected to go to the state tournament.” I believe that is the mindset of this whole team. We can’t wait to get to this stage of the season each season and hopefully we will be playing our best softball said Caddo coach Dustin McKay.
Apache’s road to state
Apache’s playoffs began with wins over Vanoss 11-1 and Geronimo/Lawton Academy 13-1 and 8-1 in districts, Lost to Hydro-Eakly 4-3, Bounced back against Wright City 5-4 and a rematch against Hydro-Eakly 6-2 to advance to the state tournament
Apache softball over the years has really tried to develop a culture of wanting a state
tournament bid and ultimately a state title as an end goal for our school and community We
had an insanely athletic team the year of covid that we lost that chance to fight for a state
title. Every year since, I think the teams have made it a personal goal and ignited a special
fight for Apache’s chance to not only make it to the state tournament but get to that final
game and holding a gold ball. We’ve struggled in the regular season to crack the rankings
that would put us in a better position in the state tournament. As a result we have made it to
the state tournament the last three years, unfortunately each year we have drawn the #1
seed in the first round who would go on to eventually win the state tournament.
However, this group went into the regional tournament facing the #8 seed. In our
tournament we had the very talented #2 Tuskha, #8 Hydro Eakly, Wright City and Apache #9.
Every game in our regional was a one run game besides our final game with Hydro that
ended up 6-2. It was a hard fought road to the state tournament but our girls battled hard
for the opportunity to make it to our third consecutive state tournament. I truly believe
these girls have just learned from the years past the grit it takes to make it to the final
dance. We have several returnies to this state tournament team, but are very green in some
areas. We have several first time starters in the lineup. This is what makes this venture to the
state tournament rewarding because of the underclassmen and non starters, in previous
years, that have had to step up in huge roles and produce for us throughout this season. I’m extremely proud of the accomplishments that this team has made to get to the state
tournament. Finishing in the top 8 of any class is something to be said about a program. We
look forward to the competition and having the opportunity to show what Apache softball is
all about. #GOWARRIORS said Apache coach Megan Koch
#3 Ripley vs #11 Hominy
10:00am at OG&E Field
Last Appearance: Ripley (Fourth straight since 2021) Hominy (First in school history)
Ripley’s road to state
Ripley’s playoffs began with wins over Liberty 16-1 and Barnsdall 7-2 and 18-0 in districts, Defeated Carnegie 14-0, Fell to Haskell 5-4 but bounced back against Merritt 4-3 to advance to the state tournament
Hominy’s road to state
Hominy’s playoffs began with wins over Afton 10-0 and Morrison 14-0 and 7-1 in districts, Defeated Fairland 7-1 and Dewar 11-5 to advance to the state tournament
Well, we started this program back in 2019 and you know we’ve gone to the regional tournament every year, but we’ve been beat out probably the first two games. This was the first year that we ever won a game in a regional tournament and our girls, I started five freshman and two sophomores and they had a really good season in fastpitch and made it to the regional tournament, Got beat out by Dewar and then we end up going to the same tournament at Dewar in slowpitch and we beat them. So it was, you know, young girls that are learning to hit the ball. It’s been a tough road to get them to where they’re confident enough to hit a slowpitch ball. They all want to chase it high up instead of wait on it to come down and hit it. But they’ve done a tremendous jpb. They’re great defensively and I’ve been really proud of them said Hominy coach Ed Green.
#5 Haskell vs #6 Rattan
10:00am at Field Two
Last Appearance: Haskell (Second consecutive) Rattan (First since 2021)
Haskell’s road to state
Haskell’s playoffs began with wins over Ketchum 18-3 and Sallisaw Central 13-0 and 12-0 in districts, Defeated Merritt 7-0 and Ripley 5-4 to advance to the state tournament.
I challenged our team this season with a tough schedule and they responded very well. These girls are a very good softball team they have been to state tournament now 4 times in two years twice with fast pitch and twice now with slow pitch. They were eager to get back to the state tournament this season after getting beat in the semis in fast pitch this year. We have lived by the phrase “refuse to lose “ this season. We are very excited to be back said Haskell coach Kyle Ward.
Rattan’s road to state
Rattan’s playoffs began with wins over Haworth 14-0 and 17-0 in districts, Fell to Caddo 8-2 but defeated Wilson twice 8-3 and 15-5 to advance to the state tournament.
Our road to the state tournament in our mind, started in March. We were a game away from being in the state tournament last spring and couldn’t quite get it done. So in our minds we were expecting to be there this year. We had a rough couple of weeks the two weeks before districts started but we also played in two of the toughest tournaments in the state in the Kiowa and Caney tournaments. I think we were just ready to get the playoffs rolling. We’ve played pretty well since the playoffs have started and we just hope to continue it on Wednesday. The anticipation is high for the girls to get going. We made it in fast pitch last fall and we’re starting to realize what the state tournament means for us and our community. They always get to go cheer for the boys in their state tournaments and now they’re getting to go as well so it’s a big deal for everybody involved said Rattan coach Cade Clay.
#7 Fairland vs #2 Tushka
10:00am at Field Three
Last Appearance: Tushka (13th straight appearance since 2011) Fairland (First in school history)
Fairland’s road to state
Fairland’s playoffs began with wins over Quapaw 18-3 and Hulbert 10-0 and 15-8 in districts, Defeated Minco 9-5, Fell to Hominy 7-4 but bounced back against Dewar 7-5 to advance to the state tournament.
We are still a young team with not a single senior on the team this year. We’ve played some really good competition this season that I think helped prepare us for this. We’ve won some games people thought we wouldn’t, and we’ve lost some games that we shouldn’t have, but that’s the nature of the game. We started off our regional playing a really good Hominy team(the eventual Champions), it was a pretty even matchup but they just outhit us in the end. We couldn’t seem to hit a ball in the gap that game. But these girls are resilient and were very determined to reach their goal of making the state tournament, so they regrouped and came back ready to take care of business. During the following two games, our bats started to come alive and we found the holes. Our defense has been one of our strong points throughout the season and they made some really great defensive plays during the regional tournament. The feeling the girls had when the last out was made was one of pure excitement because it is something that has never been done before in Fairland history! I am so proud of how they didn’t let the moment get too big, even knowing what was at stake, and came out victorious in the end! My advice to them this week is going to be to just enjoy the moment, never give up, and keep exceeding the expectations said Fairland coach Jeni Kline.
Tushka’s road to state
Tushka’s playoffs began with wins over Colbert 21-0 and Allen 12-2 and 11-2 in districts, Defeated Wright City 5-4 and Hydro-Eakly 3-2 to advance to the state tournament
We are definitely looking forward to it and getting started up there Wednesday. The girls have put in a lot of time and work to get back to the state tournament. We weren’t able to get here in the fall like we wanted so I think there was definitely a lot of determination to make it this spring. As for the 13 consecutive times making it says so much about all the girls that have played here over the years and what Coach Durbin was able to build with them. I’m very lucky to get to come be a part of the tradition they have built, but we definitely didn’t want to be the group to break that streak said Tushka coach Logan Brown.
