Lady Dragons and Lady Warriors Win First Games At Stonewall Tournament

The Lady Dragons were set to play 5A #13 Sulphur in the opening round of the Stonewall Beast of the East Tournament, The Lady Bulldogs started it off with an RBI single from Gracie Ratchford to get on the board 1-0. The bottom of the third the Lady Dragons got the bats going and put up three runs to take the lead 4-1 from an RBI single from Hannah Whitaker, A two run RBI single from Mackenzie McKay and a walk from Rosie Smith scored a run. Defense was the name of the game as despite no runs scored from the fourth inning onward, The Lady Dragons came up big defensively to get the win and advance on in the winners bracket to play Latta tomorrow at 5:00pm. McKay lead the Lady Dragons offensively with two runs and went 1-3 at the plate. The Lady Bulldogs were lead offensively by Ratchford who went 3-3 at the plate and batted in one run and Codi Reid had two hits in three at bats.

Washington 22 Lindsay 1

The Lady Warriors got off to a hot start in their opening round game with a hot start in the top of the first inning on a solo home run from Reese Schrader, A grand slam from Kinzlee Pogue and an RBI single from Alexis Gay. The Leopardettes would get on the board in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run to center field by Madison McGowan. Second inning the Lady Warriors would add to the lead with RBI singles from Kinzlee Pogue and Halle Andrews and a home run to left field by Emjay Lucas. The Lady Warriors would rattle off 12 runs in the top of the third. Olivia Palumbo started it off with a two run RBI double. Halle Andrews would get three more runs on the board with a home run to left field, Bailey Hyde and Reese Schrader each with an RBI double scoring one run, Palumbo with with a two run RBI single and Julie Hoehner with a two run home run to center field en route to a big 22-1 win to advance on in the winners bracket to tomorrow’s game against Tupelo at 6:10pm. The Lady Warriors had 23 hits total in the game, Palumbo and Lucas each had four hits hitting back to back, Pogue went 3-4 at the plate to lead the team with five hits at the plate. Schrader, Andrews, Hoehner and Shelbie Caveness each had multiple hits. McGowan went 1-1 at the plate to lead the Leopardettes with one run batted in.
