Obviously, we are very honored anytime we get to go compete in the state tournament. The guys have worked very hard and were very excited to get the win last night to get into state. The road involved a couple familiar teams along the way from our conference. We lost to metro in the area championship game third time we played them this year and then had to turn around and play Lincoln Christian on Saturday night for the fourth time and second time in a week. Both teams are very well coached and would be tough to beat them which proved to be the case both nights. Metro got us in overtime. They played a very good game. We’re fortunate to beat Lincoln for the fourth time2nd time in 8 days. I thought was one of the better games they had played that I had seen said Victory Christian coach Ryan Wakley. The Conquerors began their road to the big house with an 87-44 win over Perry in districts, Defeated Blackwell 70-32 and #14 Lincoln Christian 59-26 in regionals, Fell to #9 Metro Christian 41-35 but bounced back against #14 Lincoln Christian 54-48 to advance to the state tournament.

Kellyville’s road to the big house

It was an absolute gauntlet of really good squads to get in. Getting beat on the buzzer beater first round of regionals really put our backs against the wall. We really came together and bought in to just playing one game at a time. Being the first team to make the state tournament is something we have had as a goal all season. From Oct 1 on it was on our mind. It was a great feeling that my guys worked and earned. The communities reaction and support to making it was really special as well. It felt like almost the entire town of Kellyville was at the game Saturday night supporting our guys. It was a really special moment to be a part of and our guys really enjoyed it.
