Warriors big game on defense propels them back to the championship

The Washington Warriors and Salina Wildcats was very familiar with each other especially having played each other in last year’s semifinals with the Warriors winning 9-3 but this game would be a lot more different. First at bat of the inning the Warriors got on the board on a solo home run to center field from Sutton Moore but then three consecutive outs followed. Defense would be the theme of this matchup as both teams struggled at the plate but top of the sixth the Warriors came alive as Kane Springer would get an RBI single to score Camden Bates and the play to seal it would be an RBI single from Marlon Moore to score Mayson Thomas. The Wildcats would have one last chance to get runs in but two consecutive outs after an error to get at first brings it to a close and puts the Warriors back in the Championship.

Tristan Babbitt was on the mound for the Warriors and gave up no runs on five hits over seven innings and striking out eight. Maverick Williamson was on the mound for the Wildcats allowing four hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Marlon Moore, Kane Springer, Mayson Thomas and Sutton Moore lead the team in hits with one a piece.

Washington will play Cascia Hall in the State Championship tomorrow at 11:00am at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
