Panthers cap off perfect week with senior night win over rival Webbers Falls

The Porum Panthers have had quite the week this week but seem to peaking at the right time and they have bounced back well after the loss to Gore in the championship of the Riverside Conference Tournament. The Panthers start off the week with a 7-5 win at McCurtain in a game in which they made a comeback from 5-0 in an offensive explosion in the third inning and a couple big plays in the sixth and a dominant performance from Isaiah Sallee in which he only allowed two hits, gave up no runs and struck out 13 batters. Tuesday they would find themselves down 2-1 in the sixth inning against Okay but an RBI double from freshman Ethan Smith who was in at DH would come big to score three runners. Thursday the Panthers would travel down to Arkoma and would have a big second inning offensively and never look back in the 13-3 victory.

The Porum Panthers and the Webbers Falls Warriors would meet for the fourth time this season and the Panthers had won three of the meetings and looking to get a win on senior night. The Warriors would get on the board first behind an RBI single from Stryker Chappell to score Isaiah Terrell and advance Blaize Herriman to third and another RBI single from Denver Morgan to score Herriman and advance Chappell to third. Panthers would get the inning started by putting up eight runs to answer back, Michael Wright got it started off with a double to left field an on error that allowed Braden Catron to reach first and score Wright as well as JR Robison who was courtesy running for Cooper Franklin. Panthers would put up another run this time after a fielder’s choice at second to get Rylind Tillery out while Kyle Rock advanced to first, Catron to third and scored Robison. Gage Scarberry would ground out to short but would score Catron and advance Rock to third and the Panthers would score again on an RBI singles from Waylon Dishman to score Rock and Brayden Stinnett to score Dishman. Panthers would score on another error that allowed Isaiah Sallee to reach first and Stinnett to score from third, The inning would be capped off by an RBI double from Wright to score Sallee. Top of the second the Warriors would put up two more runs coming on an RBI single from Braydan Robinson to score Terrell and Gunner Carey. Top of third the Warriors get on the board on after Maddux Shelby was hit by pitch which scored a run with bases loaded, Robinson would step up to the plate an get an RBI double to score Caden Dishman and Carey and like that it would be a one run game. Bottom of third the Panthers would answer back with an RBI double from Sallee to score Dishman and advance Stinnett to third. Franklin would ground into fielder’s choice to third but it scored Stinnett and put Sallee in scoring position. Tillery would reach first on error but would score Stinnett and advance Robison. Bottom of fifth the Panthers would another run, A triple by Sallee put him in scoring position and despite Wright would ground out to second it would allow Sallee to score. Moving ahead to the sixth inning Rock would get it going with a single off a bunt and would manage to get to second off of a defensive indifference on a fly out. Dishman would get out on a sacrificed bunt but would score Tillery from third and put Rock in scoring position, The play of the game came when Stinnett would get an RBI triple to score Rock from third and put the exclamation point on the game. The Panthers would come up big in the top of the seventh to finish the perfect week and win the game 14-7.

Braden Catron started the game on the mound for the game for the Panthers allowing four hits and four runs over two innings and striking out two. Isaiah Sallee came in after the first inning and allowed three hits and three runs over five innings and striking out six. Stryker Chappell started the game for the Warriors and lasted two innings allowing four hits and ten runs. Brendon Goodman came in during the third inning and surrendered four runs on four hits over two innings, striking out two. The Panthers racked up eight hits, Stinnett, Wright and Sallee each had multiple hits and lead the team with two hits. The Warriors would end with seven hits in the game, Braydan Robinson and Denver Morgan lead the team with multiple hits

The Panthers will be back in action on Monday at home against Gore at 4:30pm.
