Pirates win conference tournament for third season in a row

The Gore Pirates and Porum Panthers would meet in the tournament championship for the second straight season in a row. This would also be the second meeting between the two teams this season, The Pirates won the first meeting 6-4. The Pirates would get it going with three runs in the first inning on RBI singles from Gabe Dozier and Blane Barnes. The next two innings would be relatively quiet until the fourth inning when the Panthers would get on the board when Rylind Tillery would steal home from third base. The Pirates would answer back with two more runs coming on an RBI single from Tyler Lane and another one from Gunner Dozier. Fifth inning the Panthers would strikeout in three consecutive at bats, The Pirates on the other hand would score two more runs one on an RBI single from Ward and on an bunt from Lane. An RBI single from Hunter McGee to drive in two runs would be what would seal the game for the Pirates and clinch their third consecutive conference tournament championship.

Gunner Dozier led the Pirates on the mound today only allowing one hit and one run and striking out eight batters. Isaiah Sallee led the Panthers on the mound allowing seven hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Gage Scarberry pitched in relief for the Panthers. Michael Wright led the Panthers in hits with one hit in two at bats. Blane Barnes and Jackson Duke each had multiple hits for the Pirates, Barnes lead in hits going 3-3 at the plate. Panthers return to action against McCurtain on Monday while the Pirates play against Pocola.
