Panthers finish Webbers Falls Tournament as Runner-Up

The Porum Panthers were back in the finals of the Webbers Falls Tournament and was hoping to win it for the second year in a row while the Porter Pirates was looking to snap a two game losing streak. The Webbers Falls Tournament had to be rescheduled a couple different ways due to inclement weather last week with the semifinals being played on Monday and the finals on Saturday. The Pirates got things started off in the first inning on a walk that scored Logan Crain from third, The second inning would be relatively quiet, Third inning the Pirates would score two more runs one coming from an RBI single from Blake Cole to score Mason Plunk and the other coming on an RBI double from Crain to score Cole. The sixth inning would be where the bats came alive for the Pirates, One run came on a walk with bases loaded to score Landyn Smith, Another run came on a fly out that lead to a Jaxon Smith score. Tyler Durrett would hit a three run RBI double to score Cole, Brandon Henson and Carson Bindrum. The defense would hold in the bottom of the inning to secure the win via run rule. Tyler Durrett would have a good day on the mound only allowing one hit and not giving up a run while striking out nine batters. Gage Scarberry on the mound for the Panthers would give up three runs off six hits over five innings and striking out four. Braden Catron threw one inning in relief. Michael Wright went 1-2 at the plate to lead the Panthers in hits. Blake Cole and Tyler Durrett lead the Pirates with multiple hits. The Pirates didn’t commit a single error, Cole made the most plays with nine. The Panthers return to play on Monday at Keota
