OKPreps Mailbox: Shot Clock Part Two

The shot clock has been a talked about topic quite a bit and since we last touched on this topic the OSSAA had a meeting recently and you guessed it the shot clock was on the ballot for Class 3A-6A in the 2024-25 season, According to Halie Hart of the Daily Oklahoman the OSSAA voted on the motion for it and it was denied but it was not unanimous, It was a 7-7 tie and went the board went to a tiebreaker and the motion would be denied with an 8-7 vote against it. This has definitely sparked some reaction from coaches and fans across the state. It is also worth noting that in the survey that the majority of coaches in Class 3A-6A favored it while results showed otherwise in Class 2A-B which was why the motion separated the classes.

So now we fast forward to today and in a game between two top ten 4A teams in Weatherford and Anadarko we get a 4-2 final score and yes that was the final score as you see down below. The score was 2-0 at halftime and I think that speaks for itself.

I said it once and I will say it again, We are way past due for a shot clock and we need one like yesterday. The reaction is definitely mixed with most calling for the shot clock and hopefully the third time is the charm on finally getting the shot clock because like stated before we are definitely way past due for one.
