
The fifth annual Bank 7 Mustang Holliday Classic got underway today and we definitely got to see some good basketball on display,
Edmond North 79 Southmoore 20
The first game of the day would feature two teams very familiar with each other from conference play in the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference between the Edmond North Lady Huskies and the Southmoore Lady Sabercats. The first quarter would start out slow at first but then pick up when the shots starting falling late in the quarter and that momentum would carry over in the second quarter, The Lady Huskies defense would hold the Lady Sabercats to 14 points overall in the first half with eight in the first quarter and six in the second quarter. The first half would see Edmond North have a really good shooting display going 15-26 from the field and they would go 3-9 from three while being a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line while Southmoore struggled from the field going 6-13 and 0-1 from three but was a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line. Second half would be full dominance on defense for the Lady Huskies holding the Lady Sabercats to only six combined points in both quarters. Laci Steele would lead all scorers for Edmond North with 27 points, Elle Papahronis would finish with 23 points, Mallory Jackson with 10 points, Allison Heathcock with nine points, KK Peeler with four points, Kate Melton with three points, Kate Noller with two points and Victoria Brazil with one point. Sofia Reyes would lead all scoring for the Lady Sabercats with 10 points, Keiley Mahseet and Alana Edwards with four points and Briannah Wren with two points. Lady Huskies would go 14-26 from the field, 2-4 from three and 5-10 from free throws in the second half. Lady Sabercats would go 3-15 from the field 0-4 from three and 0-2 from the free throw line in the second half.
Carl Albert 55 Southmoore 51
This wasn’t your normal one seed vs eight seed matchup. Both Carl Albert and Southmoore are very talented teams and are lead by two very good coaches in Jay Price for the Titans and Tim Stogsdill for the Sabercats. The first half would be back and forth constantly as both teams was scoring at will and the second half would be the same way, Last minute of the fourth quarter would come down to defense and free throws and Jordan England would come up clutch for the Titans as he would get a go ahead layup as well as two free throws to help secure the win for the Titans. First half the Titans would go 10-17 from the field, 2-2 from three and 6-9 from the free throw line. The Sabercats would go 9-23 from the field, 3-11 from three and 2-3 from the free throw line. Second half would see the Titans go 7-19 from the field, 0-4 from three and 13-15 from the free throw line while the Sabercats would go 10-21 from the field, 2-7 from three and 6-7 from the free throw line. Quincy Hopkins would lead all scorers for the Titans with 19 points, Ryan Reynolds with 13 points, Jordan England with 12 points, Casey Baker and Jayden Mott both with four points and Hutch Russell with three points. Jesse Ledbetter lead all scorers for the Sabercats with 20 points, Camden Stewart with 10 points, Ryan Guerrero with nine points, Kolton Brammer with five points, Trenton Wetselline with four points and Kaedon Bonner with three points.
Verdigris 31 Putnam City North 29
This game would be a defensive battle all throughout, Despite the Lady Panthers missing two starters they would still hold their own against a talented Lady Cardinals squad. The halftime score of 16-14 would prove it was definitely gonna be a fight to the finish but the Lady Cardinals in the second half would go on a run to get the momentum going and their defense would hold the Lady Panthers to one point in the third quarter and would get the biggest lead of the game at seven going into the fourth quarter. Morgan Borgstadt Maddy Daniels and Kate Wigington for Verdigris would come up clutch in the fourth quarter to seal the game late in the game to get the narrow victory 31-29, Borgstadt, Daniels and Wigington would lead all scoring for the Lady Cardinals with eight points, Brynlee Brown would have five points and Emma Young would have two points. Tehlia Kutsoah would lead all scoring for the Lady Panthers with 13 points, Nykaiya Dillard would have nine points, Raya Shawareb with five points and Jasmine Gova with two points. Lady Cardinals would go 4-21 from the field, 2-10 from three and 4-6 from the free throw line in the first half while the Lady Panthers would go 6-15 from the field, 3-8 from three and 1-4 from the free throw line. Second half the Lady Cardinals would go 4-15 from the field, 2-11 from three and 7-9 from the free throw line while the Lady Panthers would go 4-12 from the field, 2-11 from three and 4-7 from the free throw line.
Putnam City North 68 Owasso 35
The Putnam City North Panthers would put on a shooting clinic in the first half and they was hitting shots from everywhere. First half alone the Panthers would go 12-26 from the field, 3-9 from three and 3-3 from the free throw line, While in the second half they would go 15-26 from the field, 2-5 from three and 6-7 from the free throw line. The Rams would go 3-16 from the field, 2-10 from three and 2-2 from the free throw line in the first half, Second half they would go 10-22 from the field, 3-9 from three and 2-4 from the free throw line. CJ Smith would lead all scoring for the Panthers with 24 points, KeJuan Payne with 22 points, Zander Baker with 17 points, Khai Brown with four points and Anthony Leonard with one point. Isaiah McLemore would lead all scoring for the Rams with 11 points, Brandon Mann with eight points, EJ Lewis with five points, Gage Nantonis with four points, Boden Williams with three points, MJ Milton and Anson Harbaugh both with two points.
Classen SAS 57 Clovis Lake 29
The Lady Timberwolves of Clovis Lake out of California would make the trip to Oklahoma for this tournament. Head Coach Garrette Mantle was an Oklahoma native having played at Cordell in high school and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in college and coaching many years here. The Classen SAS Lady Comets would start the first half with a good offensive display of scoring and holding the Lady Timberwolves to just 13 points in the first half. Lady Comets would go 13-19 from the field but only go 1-5 from three and go 3-7 from the free throw line. Lady Timberwolves would go 5-22 from the field but only go 1-6 from three and go 2-5 from the free throw line. Second half would be a similar look with the Lady Comets going 13-32 from the field and 1-5 from three but did not go to the free throw line. Lady Timberwolves would go 6-22 from the field, 3-11 from three and 1-2 from the field. Skylar Durley would lead all scoring for the Lady Comets with 18 points, Amyah Sutton with 10 points, Jaida O’Connor and Makiya Moore with nine points, Jada Toure with seven points, Kara Busby and Paige Williams with two points. Gaby Ramos lead all scoring for the Lady Timberwolves with 16 points, Rajdeep Kaur with 12 points, Kylie Ward with one point.
Booker T. Washington 63 Midwest City 53
This game would be similar to the Putnam City North/Owasso game earlier but this was closer at times. The Hornets would go 10-29 from the field, 5-15 from three, and 3-5 from the free throw line in the first half while the Bombers would go 9-19 from the field, 4-11 from three and 3-5 from the free throw line. Second half would be similar as the Hornets would go 10-34 from the field but only go 1-11 from three and would also go 14-20 from the free throw line. Bombers would go 11-26 from the field, 3-8 from three and 3-4 from the free throw line. BJ Harris lead all scoring for the Hornets with 16 points, Ty Holdman with 13 points, Lathan Boone and Tre Crosslin with seven points, Jayden Oates and Issac Sanders with five points, Jamarri Simpson with four points, Laron English with three points. Roy Henderson lead all scoring for the Bombers with 18 points, DeShawn Denson II with 11 points, Amos Mobley Jr with nine points, Jarvis Nash with eight points, Jordan Augustus with four points, Quentin Burgess with three points.
Seiling 47 Mustang 43
This game would be a rematch of a semifinal game in 2018 in this same tournament. The first quarter would start off slow but would quickly get going as the scoring would come fast and the game would be back and forth, while the fourth quarter would become a defensive battle that the Lady Wildcats would make a couple clutch plays to secure the win. Lady Wildcats would go 7-19 from the field, 3-10 from three, 5-8 from the free throw line in the first half. The Lady Broncos would go 9-23 from the field, 2-8 from three, and 5-8 from the free throw line. Second half the Lady Wildcats would go 9-24 from the field, 1-5 from three and 2-4 from the free throw line. The Lady Broncos would go 8-18 from the field, 2-8 from three and 3-6 from the free throw line. Braci Nyberg lead all scoring for the Lady Wildcats with 25 points, Aryahna Whetstone and Kenly Gore with six points, Keirstin Briggs with four points, Tegan Hamar and Isabella Hammons with three points. Parker Simonsen lead all scorers for the Lady Broncos with 13 points, Lunden Foreman with 10 points, Cherish Haywood and Mya Alston with six points, Jahmonica Johnson and Christal Long with three points, Camryn Engles with two points.
Mustang 63 Pocola 37
The first half of this game would start out back and forth but tables would turn quickly in the Broncos favor when they went on a run in the second half. The Broncos in the first half would go 12-#8 from the field, 2-10 from three, 3-5 from the free throw line. The Indians would go 7-19 from the field, 1-3 from three, 6-13 from the free throw line. Second half the Broncos would go 14-29 from the field, 6-13 from three and would not go to the free throw line while the Indians would go 5-22 from the field, 0-5 from three and 6-11 from the free throw line. Roman Miller lead all scorers for the Broncos with 19 points, Keegan Bass with 14 points, Bryson Sharp with 12 points, Chance Rodgers with five points, Thai Bond and Lebryan Hayes with four points, Jaden Johnson with three points. Zac Jones lead all scorers for the Indians with 12 points, Garrett Scott with 11 points, Dakota Terrell with 10 points, Austin Hardwick and Brayden Hardwick with two points.
