
One week of state championships are in the book and we had two good championships in Class 4A and 5A.
Class 4A State Championship: Wagoner 24 Cushing 21
This game would be a rematch of a week six district game between Wagoner and Cushing. The Tigers would win the regular season matchup 42-0 but the two would meet again on the biggest stage. The Tigers would strike first with a Blaze Berlowitz touchdown pass to Brody Matheson for 26 yards to go up 7-0 then in the second quarter the Bulldogs would answer back when Kale Charboneau would find Brayden Skeen downfield for a 48 yard touchdown pass to tie it 7-7, Tigers would then answer back with two touchdowns, one on a three yard rushing touchdown from Noah Jones and the other on a 25 yard touchdown pass from Blaze Berlowitz to Brody Berlowitz to make it 21-7, Then in the final seconds of the second quarter Kale Charboneau would find Witt Edwards in the endzone for a six yard touchdown pass to make it 21-14 going into halftime. The Bulldogs defense would shutout the Tigers high powered offense in the second half and would control the clock with their run game, Late in the third quarter Kale Charboneau would lead the offense down the field and would tie the game at 21-21 with a three yard keeper on the goal line. Fourth quarter would be scoreless for the most part with both defenses making big plays but with three seconds to go in the fourth tied at 21, Dale Condict would send Ethan Muehlenweg out there to attempt a 36 yard field goal and it would go through clinching the game and the Bulldogs would go on to win 24-21 and Condict would win his sixth championship as a coach.
Kale Charboneau would rush for 110 yards and a touchdown and would throw 16-33 for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Gabe Rodriguez would have 15 carries for 37 yards with 51 receiving yards. Brayden Skeen would have three receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown. Witt Edwards with three receptions for 16 yards and one touchdown. Alex Sheldnight with two receptions for 13 yards.
Blaze Berlowitz would have eight carries for 44 yards and throw 17-25 for 162 yards, one interception and two touchdowns. Noah Jones would have nine carries for 23 yards and one touchdown. Camden Crooks would have one carry for 11 yards along with five receptions for 53 yards. Brady Matheson with four receptions for 42 yards and one touchdown. Lane Yaunt with four receptions for 18 yards. Noah Jones with three receptions for 24 yards. Brody Berlowitz with one reception for 25 yards and one touchdown.
Class 5A State Championship: Carl Albert 49 McAlester 7
This game would be a matchup of two physical running teams, Carl Albert back in the state championship this year while McAlester returns for the second consecutive year. The Titans would strike first on a 21 yard touchdown pass from Reed DeQuasie to Trey Washington to make it 7-0, Second quarter the Titans would get it going behind a two yard run on the goal line from Xavier Robinson after a long run set them up in scoring position then Tashawn James would take a 35 yard touch pass from Reed DeQuasie to the house and the Titans would take a 21-0 lead going into halftime. Third quarter would be the Xavier Robinson show as he would run for another touchdown on the goal line after a big run set up the Titans on the goal line once again then he would throw a three yard jump pass out of the wildcat to Caleb Cornell and it would be 35-0 going into the fourth. Robinson would get a receiving touchdown from Kash Ferris to make it 42-0 then later in the quarter Kash Ferris would run it in himself for a nine yard touchdown to make it 49-0, The Buffaloes would get on the board late in the fourth when Caden Lesnau would find Carter Lance in the endzone for a 24 yard touchdown to make it 49-7 in the final seconds of the game. The Titans would go on to win their 17th title in school history and head coach Mike Dunn would also be the first Carl Albert alumni to lead the team to a state championship as a head coach.
Xavier Robinson would have 22 carries for 180 yards and 22 receiving yards while Reed DeQuasie would have nine carries for 99 yards and would throw 5-6 for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Trey Washington would have two receptions for 46 yards and one touchdown while Tashawn James would have two receptions for 35 yards and one touchdown. Caleb Cornell would have one reception for one touchdown.
Blaze Baugh would have 16 carries for 69 yards while Caden Lesnau would have nine carries for 39 yards and throw 13-18 for 109 yards and one touchdown. Chaz Bradley would have five receptions for 50 yards, Ethan Watkins with three receptions for 20 yards, Jaxon Lauerman with three receptions for 19 yards, Carter Lance with two receptions for 20 yards and one touchdown.
