Redhawks continue 6A-I dominance with road win at Mustang

The Union Redhawks was coming into this game on a hot streak at 6-0 and putting up points on everyone, Mustang on the other hand only had one loss on the year but was looking the part of a legit contender in 6A-I and both teams was at the top of the district heading into this matchup at Bronco Stadium.

Union would strike first and quick as sophomore quarterback Shaker Reisig would get the Redhawks on the board with a 67 yard touchdown pass to wide reciever Grayson Tempest, The rest of the first quarter would be quiet on both sides but it would pick up in the second when running back Deon McKinney would get the Redhawks on the board with a 16 yard touchdown to go up 14-0, Mustang would answer back after quarterback Tristen Russell and the running back tandem of Jay Bedford, Antone Prince and Pryce Burgess would get into the redzone where Bedford would get the Broncos on the board 14-7 from three yards out. Union would once again answer back this time with Deon McKinney touchdown from 32 yards out to go up 21-7, Coming out of halftime Union would receive the ball and they would be looking to score again and that they would do less than two minutes in as Shaker Reisig finds Jino Boyd for the touchdown, The extra point would be mishandled on a bad snap but Rhett Rogers the holder makes the best of it and takes it himself for two as the Redhawks go up 29-7, Later on in the third quarter after a good drive down the field Deon McKinney would get another touchdown to make it 36-7. Tristen Russell would lead another good drive down the field to setup Jay Bedford for another touchdown in the redzone to make it 36-14, Very next possession on the kickoff Devon Jordan would take it 72 yards to the house on a lateral to make it 43-14. Fourth quarter would start off with another good drive from Tristan Russell and he would cap it off with a touchdown pass to Chad Beard to make it 43-21, Later on in fourth Union would primarily look to run the clock down, Broncos defense makes a couple big stops and on comes Cameron Sarey who hits a field goal from 22 yards out to make it 46-21, Deon McKinney would cap off the night with his fourth touchdown on the night and the Redhawks would go to 7-0 and win 53-21.

Shaker Reisig would go 17-24 for 288 yards and two touchdowns, Deon McKinney would have 19 carries for 177 yards for four touchdowns and two receptions for 41 yards, Dae’Mar Nealy would have three carries for 18 yards and two receptions for 12 yards, Grayson Tempest would have seven receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown as well as one rush for 14 yards. Jino Boyd would have two receptions for 48 yards and one touchdown, Lane Wood would have one reception for 27 yards, Nicholas Ogundare would have three receptions for 39 yards as well as two carries for 21 yards. Devon Jordan would have two kick returns for 93 yards combined as well as a kickoff return touchdown.

Tristen Russell would go 9-15 for 106 yards, one touchdown and one interception and 13 carries for 52 yards. Jay Bedford would have 15 carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Pryce Burgess would have 12 carries for 70 yards. Antone Prince would have seven carries for 22 yards. Jacobe Johnson would have four receptions for 46 yards and one carry for six yards. Keegan Bass would have three receptions for 31 yards, one carry for seven yards and two kickoff returns for 36 yards. Chad Beard would have one reception for five yards and one touchdown. LeBryan Hayes would have three kickoff returns for 65 yards

Union will host Edmond Santa Fe next week on Thursday at 7:00pm while Mustang travels to Norman on a Thursday as well at 7:00pm
