Mount. St Mary hires Dawkins as next boys basketball coach

Mount St. Mary has it’s new boys basketball coach, Andre Dawkins was announced as the new head coach by the school a few days ago, He was the assistant coach last season for the rockets. Dawkins is originally from Virginia and played for Coach K at Duke and was apart of the 2010 national championship team, After college he entered the NBA as an undrafted free agent and played with the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and the NBA G-League, He also hosts a podcast on the Duke Basketball for the Field of 68 Network called “Dawkins on Duke Podcast” and coaches in the Buddy Buckets Select Basketball League. Dawkins takes over a Rockets team that 21-5 last season and is coming off back to back state tournament appearances. “I am both honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the head boy’s basketball coach at Mount St. Mary High School. I would like to thank Mr. Henderson and the search committee for what I know will be an incredible experience for myself and the team. Mount St. Mary has an unwavering commitment to academic and athletic excellence. I could not be more excited to join the Rocket family, as we continue to elevate the power of athletics to pursue championships in sports and in life” said Dawkins in a statement release by the school.
