Talihina drops football for 2022 season

According to a report by Bryant Roche of the Times Record based out of Ft. Smith, The Talihina Golden Tigers will not be playing this season due to low participation numbers, The program plans to resume play in 2023 and doesn’t view this as a permeant or continuous cancellation. Last spring the baseball teams at Talihina and Whitesboro combined in a co-op but the football team will not be entering such an agreement. The Tigers last season went 4-5 last season and haven’t reached the playoffs since 2018, Overall the team is 458-245-2 and has made the playoffs 39 times and have reached the state semifinals times while making two finals appearances in 1966 and 1980 while from 1980-2000 they would make the playoffs all but twice and would make every playoffs from 2012-2018 with 2017 being a season they was ranked #1 overall and finishing 10-2. The other teams in the district will now have six district games instead of seven
