Perry hires Matthews as next girls coach

The Perry Lady Maroons have their next coach. Carson Matthews was hired on Wednesday, Matthews takes over a Lady Maroons team that finished 24-3 and made the semifinals in the Class 3A State Tournament this season. Prior to this season she was an assistant at Moore since 2020 and was an assistant at Stillwater for two and a half seasons before that, This season she was awarded the Class 5A/6A central region assistant coach of the year and in her experience with 6A teams she has coached four all state players and made the area tournament the last two seasons. “I’m so excited to join Perry Public Schools and the athletic program as the new girls basketball coach, I’m thankful and blessed Perry has trusted me with this opportunity.  I’m looking forward to engaging with our athletes, students, facility, and community. I’m ready to get to work!” said Matthews in an interview with the school’s press release.
