The Gore Pirates cruised through district play this week after defeating Okay 11-3 and Porum 11-0 and 9-1 to win the district championship, It is their 4th straight since 2018. The Pirates would outscore everyone in their district by a combined score of 31-4 and they would also meet up with the Panthers for the fifth time winning all five matchups and outscoring them 53-13 (13-1, 10-7, 10-4, 11-0 and 9-1), They say it’s hard to beat a team three times but the Pirates did it five times. The second game would be a defensive battle for the longest time and would be 0-0 until the Panthers scored a run off a walk on loaded bases in the top of the 3rd to make it 1-0, The bats would then come alive for the Pirates as they put up six unanswered runs in the bottom of the 4th to make it 7-1, The Panthers would get runners on base in the 5th but couldn’t answer the Pirates rally as they would put up one run, Same as the 5th inning the Panthers couldn’t get anything on the board but then in the bottom of the 6th the Pirates only needed one run to clinch the districts by run rule and they would get it from Jackson Duke who hit a walkoff double to score a runner at second to win the game 9-1 in six innings. Regionals will be out this weekend.
